    Job Title: TVSA Intern

    Organization: Texas Victim Services Association

    Location: Central Texas Area

    Job Description: Intern will assist the Executive Director with Texas Victim Services Association (TVSA) communications, also known as promotion or marketing. TVSA believes it is most effective when it is regularly in communication and relationship with its members, in print and electronic communications, in social media...in all areas. An intern is sought to assist in these areas. Ideal candidates will be energetic, inventive, hard-working, social media and web-savvy, to engage existing and new TVSA members in the organization’s mission. While assisting with a wide range of projects, interns will gain hands-on experience and training in many aspects of marketing and development, while also gaining a good understanding of a statewide non-profit professional association and of the field of crime victim services across the state of Texas

    The intern will also assist with event planning, specifically for the TVSA Victimology Research Symposium, which will be held in October 2022, but planning and preparation will take place throughout the spring semester period. Additional event planning tasks may include those for the 2022 Texas Academy for Victim Assistance in management and leadership (TAAVA), held in February 2022 and for meetings of our systems-based virtual training series in law enforcement and prosecution based victim services, to be held in January and March 2022.

    Job Title: Counselor (Bilingual in English & Urdu/Hindi)

    Job Description: The Counselor will directly interact with the clients by applying specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills to assess and treat emotional trauma associated with domestic violence and sexual assault. Working closely within the Client Services team, the counselor will provide individual counseling and psychotherapy as well as in-depth case management to comprehensively address needs and help clients move forward. The Counselor will provide counseling and assist clients in accessing resources related to job training, employment, legal advocacy, housing, childcare, health care, translation and interpretation services, court accompaniment and public assistance.

    Job Description: The Helpline Advocate serves as the frontline staff member for new client communication and intakes. The Helpline Advocate will provide crisis intervention and emotional support, conduct safety planning, provide education on the cycle of violence, and assist clients in accessing resources. The Advocate will work closely with the Client Services Team to ensure continuity of care. The Advocate will ensure all client forms and documentation follow agency requirements. They will also prepare client services reports, create psychoeducational materials, and maintain the agency resource guide.
